About
Jessica F. Marquez a.k.a. “Simply jess” Born on April 7th in Flushing hospital Queens, New York. My mother and father are originally from colombia. (father currently lives in Colombia) 2 sisters and 5 brothers I grew up in New York and moved to Miami in 2004. I never saw myself living in Florida, but after I visited on Spring Break in 2004 I found myself ready for a change of scenery. Miami was much different than the New York scene that I was used to, I was drawn to the lifestyle and people.. it was different and fresh. New york had nothing to offer me. There was too much negativity and I needed something new but wasn’t finding it out there. I also couldn’t stand the weather. I’m definitely a tropical girl!! Don’t get my wrong, I always enjoy visiting my hometown and I do tend to miss it from time to time. I’ll never forget where I came from…
I moved here for a few reasons…my mom bought a house in Florida, I met a great Guy who I couldn’t let go of and got a great job offer. So I finally packed my small rental jeep and drove 20 hours to Florida. There was no turning back I was ready for a huge change in my life. I started off taking a job with a modeling company as model scout/assistant, little did I know I was working for scam artist who ended up never paying me. Needless to say that caused a lot of financial problems and eventually lead to me being evicted from my apartment. I can’t really complain though.. I learned my lesson early and since then life in Florida has actually turned out great.
Of course it wasn’t easy in the beginning but things started turning around as soon as I moved to South Beach.
I started working the door at Mansion, opium and Prive. Working the door was a great experience, I learned a lot about the club scene. I got to know a lot of the who’s who of South Beach.. The celebrities, the models, the socialites, the athletes and of course the South beach crazies! Working the door was fun and educational for a while, but soon it was time for a change.. so my x boyfriend and I pursued the opportunity to promote for 2 of the top clubs in Miami (at the time): Mansion and Opium. After learning the ropes, we started our own dinner party at Harrison’s restaurant. We named it “The 400 Club”, and in less than a year it grew from a 50 person intimate dinner party, to the most popular and exclusive R&B dinner party in Miami..In fact, it grew so big and so fast that after just a year and a half, we decided to move the party to a much bigger location; The Fifth Nightclub. We’ve been at The Fifth every Friday for the last year and a half and it is hands down the top Hip Hop and R&B party in Miami.. and some say the country! Each Friday night we draw over 1000 of the sexiest and most important young professionals, models, celebrities, socialites, and professional athletes from Miami as well as across the world.
My area of expertise is to invite and host only the most beautiful women and VIPS to The 400 Club. Everyone knows the club scene in Miami is all about the look, and that’s exactly what I bring! In order to be effective in this business, you have to treat it as more of a lifestyle. I always have to be in the clubs and on the scene. I also spend a lot of time meeting new people on Twiiter, Myspace and Facebook. When I started, since I was new to Miami. I use to always met so many people through and on Myspace. That’s how nickname Simply Jess! Right now our company, The Four Hundred, currently has 4 weekly events, including nightclubs, dinner parties, and even pool parties.. Like Thursday Mansion, Friday at Play, Saturdays Cameo and Sunday sexy dinner party at Karma. For more info go to the event section on my site! Also Don’t forget to register
When it comes to modeling, Its always been more of a hobby than a career goal for me.. I enjoy the process, getting my make up and hair done, working with different photographer and of course the photographs, but I see it more as a platform for me to make moves on a bigger scale and update new photo to my website. Ive done a couple ads, magazines, and fashion shows.. my most memorable modeling experience would probably be working with Amaya Swimwear by Lila Nikole in 2006 BET Rip The Runway.. I don’t really attend any castings, so when I was presented with that opportunity I was very excited. I have a few new projects in the works right now so stay up to date with them on SimplyJess.com. So between my parties, modeling, website, and company, the near future looks extremely busy, but very promising!
